TiE Picks Three Indian Startups for Billion Dollar Babies Project

The Silicon Valley chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) has selected three India startups for its Billion Dollar Babies initiative. Under which, it will handhold these startups, take them to the US market and work towards a billion dollar valuation for each.

Selected companies stay in the TiE Silicon Valley office for 3-6 months, and TiE will help them with issues like HR/benefits/accounting, marketing/branding, legal etc.

The selected startups include:

Seclore Technology

Mumbai-based security software company, Seclore Technology is a venture of  IITians Vishal Gupta and Abhijit Tannu, it’s product allows firms to control the flow and usage of information. It empowers people to view, edit and redistribute shared documents or files and currently has 4 million users. The firm had secured USD 6 million from Helion Venture Partners and Ventureast, last year. Started in 2009, Seclore’s clients include HSBC, GE Capital, ICICI and HDFC.

Vinculum Group

Delhi-based 7 year old Vinculum Group is a technology provider firm for retail, started by Venkataramana Rao Nott, Deepak Singla, Annajee Nott and Piyush Madan. It enables retailers to sell their products on various marketplaces through a subscription model. Almost doing USD 1 million of sales every month, it plans to achieve USD 60-70 million over the next three years.

Sokrati

Pune-based Sokrati is an ad technology & analytics firm launched by former Amazon colleagues Ashish Mehta, Santosh Gannavarapu and Anubhav Sonthalia in 2009. It has built algorithms to manage performance-driven marketing spends on paid search, social & display networks.

TiE is also hunting for two more ventures over the next two weeks that will be the part of its first batch of Billion Dollar Babies. “Companies selected for the program will get access to TiE Silicon Valley’s rich ecosystem of successful entrepreneurs, top executives and venture capitalists, as well as potential customers. Such access, combined with mentoring and advice from role models, will  accelerate the global success of the promising companies selected for this program,” aid Venktesh Shukla, president of TiE Silicon Valley.
